I am looking to stress test my switch, and i am looking for something that pushes it to its limits hardware wise, i want something that you can hear the fans roaring whilst playing. I own shin megami tensei 5, and its close to what i want.

@Hee-ho-master Early on, Breath of the Wild was a benchmark for a power hungry game, (you could probaby say the same for Tears of the Kingdom. I would think SMT5 is comparable, powerwise). But, I usually see the most heat and fan use when I first start playing online games like Splatoon 2, Splatoon 3, or Rocket League.

However, your switch may not flex it's fan muscles until you've had the switch for at least a year. I don't know how old your switch is. Both my launch day switch and my OLED model, the fan was barely noticeable in the first 6+ months, they barely ran. At 12 months they started getting noticeable, but still pretty quiet. Then at 24 months, that's about when the switch starts flexing the fan a bit more, and there can sometimes be a bit more "whoosh" sound.

I remember Fast RMX coming out top early on, in terms of which Switch games would eat through your battery the quickest, so that might be the one to go for if you've got it.

BotW and Odyssey - which you're a lot more likely to have - were both pretty close though, so either should suffice. This was all long before SMT V came out, so I'm not sure how it ranks, but I'd expect it also to be there or thereabouts, as it's usually fighting a losing battle when trying to maintain 30fps.

I don't think age has that much of an effect on fan speeds. They just tend to get a lot noisier on account of the wear and dust, and hardly anyone ever cleans them.

I'd be interested to see some data on this. Can't say I've ever noticed my Switch getting hot, and I've played most of the big titles it has to offer. However I have seen numerous reports online of Switches getting rather hot / fans getting disturbingly loud.

At least 2'8".

This happened to me last Summer playing Kirby And The Forgotten Land, but I think it was more to do with the intense August heat during that period!

Dragon Quest Builders 2

In my experience, no game pushes the Switch harder, drains the battery faster.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and Pokémon Scarlet/Violet make my launch Switch system heat up quite a lot.
My Switch OLED has much better thermals.
