Publisher THQ Nordic has released a brand new trailer for its upcoming action-RPG Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy, putting the hero spotlight on Pontius the Knight, a Trine veteran.
It's also been confirmed that the game will be launching on Switch next month on August 31st, 2023.
Here's what THQ Nordic has to say about that chap Pontius:
Meet Pontius the Knight, Protector of the Realm, and also the biggest pie lover the land has ever seen! A real frontline hero who is always going headfirst into battle to protect his friends!
Your sword and shield will aid you on your journey - if you know how to use them! As a skilled knight and professional pie eater, Pontius can use his sword to fight off enemies, get rid of obstacles, and even use it as a platform to help him reach higher areas. The shield, not only made to protect, will come in handy to reflect light, skate across water, and even use as a glider!
Charge, smash, fight, and puzzle-solve your way through the dangers that await with your fellow adventurers. And should you need further help, the Prismatic Talisman will be your best friend - literally. Clones can be useful!

I only thought they were up to 4 as the 3rd 3D game crash & burned? Guess I’m not the target audience.😂
@rjejr - Yeah, 3 was deemed the biggest failure, but they promptly made a 4th a while after.
I am all about more Trine, but more in for another Nine Parchments.
I stopped at trine 3 and don't intend to buy anymore of their games. When players complained about trine 3, they pretty much said: "We knew our game sucked but we ran out of money, so we released it unfinished because we don't respect people who give us money."
OH MY GOD YES YES YES YES YES YES I LOVE THESE GAMES SO MUCH. I absolutely can not wait! AND IT'S NEXT F*CKING MONTH ALREADY?? HOLY SH*T!!!
I need to go through the Trine collection and finish 3 & 4 fast!
The first couple games and the spinoff are great, but I have mixed feelings about 3/4. Hopefully, this one can finally measure up to their earlier standards.
@DogDetective I'd skip 3. It's not as good and it's super buggy. 4 is a return to form though. I'm excited for 5!
I still didn't finish the first one. I'm Trine to catch up!
I liked Trine 2, but feel like there's no reason to ever play any of the others.
@Paraka Thanks. If 4 was right after 3 then it's been awhile so I guess that's why I forgot.
@Paraka Nine Parchments is great, I had a lot of fun playing it online.
@roy130390 - Nine Parchments was as close to Gauntlet I can get in this modern era. I will gladly take it.
Diversity can also include body types. I'm sure there are some portly gamers who appreciate seeing portly protagonists.
Need to cool it with these games, only a really fantastic trilogy needs 5 sequels. Ironically the first game was fairly innovative a decade+ on now lol.
@Thomystic I doubt most gamers care as much about 'representation' as the game media thinks they do.
Trine scratches that Lost Vikings itch and is a blast to play with my friends.
Day one!
4 was such an incredible improvement over 1&2! Great coop game!
This games were always bugged for me on eshop or something. It says I have purchased Trine Ultimate Edition and also Trine 4, but when I go to download the ultimate edition, it just downloads 4 instead? It was so long ago I don't remember if I actually bought them all or what, I just know I can't download the ultimate collection...
Haven't played the other Trine games, but i definitely plan on playing them now. Trine 5 look's promising!
@rjejr Trine 4 was released a while back and it reverted back to the style of the first two games.
I loved 1. Didn't complete 2 & 3 for some reason but I enjoyed 4. I didn't even know there was a number 5 being made !
@brandonbwii "a while back"
Guess I missed it. Kind of stopped paying attention after 3 crash and burned. 🤷♂️
