Update: You can now download the version 3.0.0 update for the Nintendo Switch Online NES game portal that introduces a handy rewind feature enabling you to pause the action and skip back just as you would while watching something on Netflix (check out the trailer below). Donkey Kong 3 and Wrecking Crew are also joined by a 'Special' version of Mighty Bomb Jack which starts you off in the final zone, round 17.
Original story: Nintendo continues to strengthen its library of virtual NES offerings on the Switch with monthly game releases. This time the west will receive Donkey Kong 3 and Wrecking Crew. Japan is receiving the same games.
Donkey Kong 3 – Based on the third game in the enormously popular arcade series, Donkey Kong 3 introduces an exterminator named Stanley as he desperately tries to protect the flowers in his greenhouse from Donkey Kong. Armed only with a can of bug spray, Stanley must force Donkey Kong higher and higher into the greenhouse rafters until Donkey Kong is off the screen and the next stage is reached.
Wrecking Crew – In the days before Mario and Luigi became sports stars in their downtime from saving the princess, they tried their hands as one-man wrecking crews. With a hammer as their only tool, take control of the brothers and set out to destroy ladders, rip out pipes, knock out walls and detonate explosive devices. But make sure to plan your path of destruction carefully, as each building is designed as its own clever puzzle.
These games will be made available later this month, on 17th July. In addition to this is a new rewind feature:
On July 17, a Rewind feature will be available to use with the entire collection of NES – Nintendo Switch Online games, allowing players to easily rewind gameplay by pressing and holding ZL + ZR if they make a mistake or just want to retry a section of the game!
Will you be revisiting these classics or at least trying out the new feature? Tell us below.

Okay, the rewind feature is sweet, but this month’s game selection just feels like they’re scraping the bottom of the barrel. Seems like it’s about time for Super NES games.
Whoooooa. TWO games? That's, like, one more than ONE game!
Oh, come on....Nintendo is trolling us 😂What about classics like Baseball Stars, RC Pro Am, Ivan Stewart’s Super Off-Road???
I just want a working version of the original Baseball Stars. The batteries have long since died in my original copies and I’m no longer able to save a season, track stats, or progress players.
@LunarFlame17 I just registered an account to say exactly this. The rewind feature is admittedly nice, but they’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel now.
The Rewind feature sounds great, but yes, I agree the online needs a greater variety of games (SNES, 64...)
This month I am literally not even getting my $1.66 worth. 😂
These are two of the absolute WORST games in the NES library. Good grief, they could have skipped this month entirely and it would have been a better choice.
SWITCH ONLINE SNES PLEASE!
Wake me up when Mario Sunshine or Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 finally get ported.
Just two Games again and both are rather unpopular. I liked the NES Online Service for the most part at the beginning, but they really need something else.
Ah, ahhhh dats hot! It's Rewind Time!!!
But but but NOS is like bundled with Tetris, MM2 and some people got a free year from Prime. How can anyone complain?
The best part is that (correct me if I’m wrong), all of the arcade titles that they have in their NES Online library are also available as arcade perfect ports on the Switch. Soooo... why would I play the inferior NES version?
Yup that's right Nintendo your online service isn't falling behind. It sure isn't.
Just add Battletoads and all the nes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles titles plus F-Zero, and end this service already. I want my SNES titles!
Okay this month is totally worth it for the rewind feature. Now NESflix will feel like the SEGA Megadrive Collection but for the NES. Once I have a break in my games catalogue, I’ll spend a hundred hours (fifty hours?) looking at all the NES games available.
I'm with everyone. It's time to add SNES games.
But I'd also like to see Game Boy. They had a prime chance with the Game Boy's recent anniversary.
Why don't you guys stop being patient waiting for SNES games and just cancel your membership?
I've never liked that rewinding thing in games (unless is a mechanic like in Life is Strange). I feel like I'm cheating myself doing that just to "fix" a mistake I made. But I know that's just me, so I'm happy for the people who want to use it, more options are always welcome.
Now to wait for the Super Nintendo games in 2020 and N64 in 2024/s
Cool. How about some SNES games?
I would have leaped for joy in anticipation if this were the 1980s, but it’s not...
More mediocre games being added and no SNES games in sight...
This is absolute bs. Another month of complete crap. Meanwhile, I might pay more for my other online services, but I get pretty amazing games for my money. AND specials, sales and discounts... some of which have been pretty damn good. AND proper grown up communications. Nintendo should be embarrassed... but they won't be. They're far too arrogant.
@Tsusasi
Yeah that’s going to happen soon when they can’t even guarantee 3 NES games a month when they still have SNES, N64 and Gameboy.
Wake me up when newer console choices are available...thank god I got my membership for 1 year for free from Amazon.
@Tsusasi They aren't cause people are buying the service anyway and said people are willing to defend it until the very end
I was a defender of the service at the beginning, but this just stinks. Those two games have no appeal to anyone. What planet is Nintendo on giving these as part of a membership service? I’ve had enough.
No need to bash Wrecking Crew. It’s one of the better “black box” games IMO. Donkey Kong 3 on the other hand, eh.
Oh for goodness sake, if we're not getting SNES games, can we at least get Gameboy games? or at the very least Good NES games like Final Fantasy or Megaman?
@N8tiveT3ch How can a service that’s never even caught up, fall behind?
Dk3 is my favorite of the trilogy. Can't wait for wrecking crew either. I hope we will get Pinball in the future since it came to my wiiU but not my 3ds. What's with that?
Those of you calling these games "bottom of the barrel" have never played Urban Champion.
Rewind feature is nice, please bring button mapping next and sooner than later.
I'd love to see NintendoLife do a feature on the best remaining (realistic) games that could come to the NES virtual library. Past two months have been depressing, but I can't help but feel theres so much we're missing..
With that said - I want SNES and n64 like the rest of you.
Rewind will be handy... I die a lot in NES games.
Somebody needs to call the waaambulance for this comments section. SNES games are probably coming in September... when everyone who jumped in for year one will have to renew their membership.
The rewind feature is actually a nice addition, but otherwise there’s nothing exciting this month.
Since Sol Seraph is apparently underwhelming, now would be a great time to drop Actraiser and some other SNES classics into Switch Online.
Wow, a feature that literally every other emulator has had for years. What a novel idea!
Yeah keep your toxic and annoying comments. DK3 is a neat game.
@StormtheFrontier
No final fantasy because square hates money (almost expecting a 1-6 collection now, since Collection of Mana came over, and is done by M2). and for Mega Man, the legacy collection exists. That instantly kills the prospect of mega man on Nes online. Same for Castlevania and Contra.
It's cute that some people are calling this the bottom of the barrel. At the rate Nintendo is going and assuming they're gonna stick with the NES titles for the foreseeable future, there's plenty of scraping left to do.
Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy and Startropics 2: Zoda’s Revenge would be a great month. Or Earthbound Beginnings. Its summer. Kids and some others have time for RPGs right now.
Mario Maker 2 is kinda making a lot of other games collect dust anyway. Lol
donkey kong 3 is dope
@alexybubble Yeah, some publishers would rather re-release their own games than license them to Nintendo as part of the online service, which makes perfect sense. No hate. It's their games and if they feel there's more money to be made in porting and selling them directly, of course that's what they're gonna do. Of course, this reality is just more reason Nintendo should move on to other platforms already rather than continuing to drip feed NES titles. I mean sure there are still a lot of NES titles not on the service, especially at the rate Nintendo is releasing them, but how many of those that we can realistically expect Nintendo to be able to license are actually good?
Great feature, fantastically awful games. Nintendo should probably wake up and smell the SNES at this point.
@alexybubble Yeah with those out of the picture now, and the fact that Dragon Warrior probably isn’t coming and the licensing issues for stuff like TMNT, Batman, and Ducktails... I don’t know. I think there is Cystalis but that was part of the SNK Collection, right? Life force was part of the Konami Arcade collection, but there was Gradius so some hope there. There’s also probably going to be no Mother 1. That leaves Rygar, Faxanadu, A Boy and His Blob. I’m struggling to think of many good NES games that would be a possibility at this point.
@robr maybe because I already pay for the service in order to play online games as Mario Maker, Mario Kart, etc....
Stop asking for SNES games, they will wait at least to the first year of subscriptions to end in order to convince customers to enroll again.
Business as usual
YES!!! WRECKING CREW THANK YOU
I am extremely unsatisfied with this online service. I just stomach it so I can play MK8, Splatoon 2 and now SMM2.
Does Nintendo know there were plenty of better 3rd party games on the NES? Sony did a nice bait and Switch for this month yet Nintendo marches out DK3 and Wreaking Crew???
You can fix all this by giving me Faxanadu!!
Free games are free games, but I'm waiting for quality to improve. A lot of Switch games seem to use P2P connections, so I'm wondering what Online money is going towards if not to at LEAST some quality games.
I was hoping that Tetris 99 was the advent of a more modern library being introduced to the service a la Playstation Plus, but it seems that we're gonna be just as disappointed for a bit as PS+ users, except instead of paying $60 for bargain bin modern games, it's $20 for bargain bin 80's games.
I'd hope for SNES games soon, but the NES had like 800 titles on it.
@StormtheFrontier the licensing fees capcom and squenix would command for titles like those would cause Nintendo to actually lose money on the service
Bring us Star Tropics II, Earthbound Beginnings, Rad Racer, and Jackal.
These two do nothing for me.
Also, SNES for september, please.
We have almost every NINTENDO published game released in the West, with exception of some of the light gun games and the ROB specific games, almost all the great third party games are in licensing limbo or have been released recently on compilations.
I think they will move on from NES eventually and that will happen in the 3rd week of January 2020, till then expect 1-2 NES games.
I don't think there are many great SNES Nintendo self published games to carry it for a whole year, so maybe we will get GB and GBC first.
Considering that only two third party publishers regularly have games released for the service (Koei Tecmo and Arc System Works) and Nintendo has almost released every first party game that they published on the NES, I have a feeling that another system will soon be released for the service.
Hmmmmm. Not really the best month but those are some alright games. Wrecking Crew is ok and Donkey Kong 3 is a fun gem but it gets tiring. DK3 is also irrelevant because the Arcade Version is on the Eshop. Idk, this is the kind of stuff that makes me miss a proper Virtual Console. I would gladly add these to my collection yes, but theres still so many NES games that aren't here, plus all the rest of the retro Nintendo consoles. I really hope Nintendo learns from this. They probably won’t, but heres hoping.
@LunarFlame17 last month was terrible. They're getting to the end of first party.
@Galarian_Lassie while I hope to see SNES games. People would prob pay for SNES games so virtual console might happen or the yearly might jump to $60 or have a higher tier.
I thought the rewind feature is a literal "rewind" where as you press the rewind buttons, you avatar goes back in time, like Life is Strange stuff
It's so incredibly hard to get excited for these anymore. The rewind feature will help on a few of the games, but with the exception of Tetris 99, Nintendo Online is a train wreck. I don't know why I even check what this month's games are anymore.
The sad thing is I actually thought it would be different this time. It is crazy that Nintendo has actually gotten worse over the course of the last few years at things like this.
I have offended the entire planet by saying this and I will say it again. I LIKE NES ONLINE! It has lots and lots of good games that people dismiss because "its old". It really annoys me when people say that. Have you even touched these games? I found it super easy, fast, and the definitive way to experience NES games if you cant afford a real one. No amount of shaming me and yelling can fix my opinion. You know who you are.
But still no button mapping? Something the Wii U Virtual Console had from day one?
@LinktotheFuture Seriously, how is button mapping not a thing already? It makes no sense to me.
Cool. Now where is SNES?
This makes my convinced it will be an anniversary addition in September for SNES games. Would fit in usual timing of next direct too
@BAN I know, it is 2019 for crying out loud!
@Toph6661 Me too. Not as convinced as you but very hopeful. It would make sense releasing the Rewind feature now in an attempt to calm angry users, and not to release it when/if SNES games become available as it would be overshadowed by the rest. Unless they make Rewind available for SNES too in September, but they would be shooting their bolt right from the start.
Nintendo have an embarrassing wealth of retro games and it’s a shame we are limited to just a few NES games each month. NES games have had so many re-releases (damn I bought GBA/NES carts 15 years ago) it would be nice for SNES, N64, GB etc to have a go...
@Woomy_NNYes that’s gonna be a long nap
Having Kage or Shadow Ninja would be sweet!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyabAd13rIY
For those who loves Ninja Gaiden this is a wonderful replacement with amazing music and difficulty level
Rewind is very handy and I like the look of it. Will try out the new games but already have Wrecking Crew on Wii U virtual console.
@Rygar are any of the games released so far not first party? This is no VC and they don't want to pay royalties
@Crono1973 because they paid for a year in advance lol
I don't know what's worst, Nintendo not letting go of the NES games or Sega can't let go of the Genesis games. So tired of these two same lame platforms being milk to death every gen. Super NES, Saturn, 32X, Sega CD, GBA, Dreamcast, N64, GameCube, etc., these are what we need Nintendo and Sega.
@Spoony_Tech for 20$/year you can bet Nintendo is not willing to pay royalties for third party games
Couldn't care less about a rewind feature I will never use but please give us the option to remap the controls, its really annoying having the buttons the wrong way round
@Balta666 Ghosts and Goblins, Ninja Gaiden, Gradius, Double Dragon, Blaster Master, TwinBee, Solomon's Key. Plenty of them are 3rd party so royalties are clearly not an issue. The problem is Capcom and Konami have released many of their games in collections and much of the NES library are licensed games whose licenses have changed hands so many times since these games will never see the light of day again sadly
Difficult to imagine Nintendo wouldn't expect a bit of negativity regarding the NES offering this month. I guess that's why the rewind feature was added.
September feels like the time for SNES to arrive - amazed they have spread NES over an entire year, but it is what it is.
These are decent additions but this terrible drip feed of nes games is beyond insulting at this point
We wouldn't need SNES games yet if they'd just release some damn NES games that are actually good 🙄
Interesting to see the rewind feature, some of those NES games are pretty tough. I get the feeling they could start dropping SNES titles in August to make people resubscribe...
Absolute rubbish
Moan Moan Moan SNES games please Moan Moan, getting bored of this. It's free what do you expect?
Rewind function is just cheating so that kids who cant handle the difficulty of the old games have a chance.
While these are tempting, i’ll probably just continue playing Detroit: Become Human, which I got with psplus this month.
the games done interest me at all but I do like the rewind feature! shame there arent many games I would be bothered to use that with
Ahhh but the online service is so cheap anyhow. I spend more money on craft beer in a week than I do for Nintendo online in a year. Do I care about these new games? Not really. But I still dont feel burned about a service that really is small change. As the wiser comments here say, once first party NES is done we will get SNES. Keep supporting and who knows what comes after that?
Nintendo's not doing much to appease us gamers that, say, want to revisit a game like the original Majora's Mask without resorting to piracy or scavenging through ancient technology. Sony has no trouble repackaging its more popular series (to varying degrees of quality) for modern systems. To this day, the only actual Zelda collection exists as that Nintendo Power promotional disc. Nintendo's reluctance here is baffling. Several of the widely considered "best games of all time" are under the Nintendo banner. Nintendo has stacks of pocket aces and refuses to play them. Stunning.
Omg we are totally spoiled with this service it’s awesome
The funny thing is, that Miyamoto says, Nintendo is state of the art, regarding online services (and VR technology).
Welp...
https://youtu.be/X-HJuLKvmBw
Well, while both games are classics and I personally enjoy them both, this month is easily the most disappointing one yet. I was hoping that Japan got Goemon or something as a third game, but nothing.
The rewind feature doesn't really interest me at all, though.
What Nintendo really need to do is persuade the third parties to allow their NES games on there. Let's get Square Enix, Capcom, Konami, Sunsoft, etc really on there.
By my count there's only about a dozen first-party NES games left that have a realistic chance of coming to NSO outside of Japan (and it's looking like most big-name third-party games are going to end up in their own paid collections): Anticipation, Devil World, Kung Fu, Mach Rider, Pinball, Urban Champion, Zoda's Revenge, Nintendo World Cup, Super Spike V-Ball, and NES Play Action Football. Maybe Golf and Donkey Kong Jr Math to complete the black boxes, and Earthbound Beginnings, Mysterious Murasame Castle, Clu Clu Land D, and F-1 Race as possible imports. Every other Nintendo-published NES game either requires peripherals, has potential rights issues, or would require major amounts of new translation. Allowing for some more Japan-only and smaller third-party games, they'll have exhausted the catalog by the end of this year or early next year.
Wow, TWO NES games! Thanks Nintendo! To balance this awesomeness...
they need to release SNES and N64 games very soon.
@YorkshireNed Yep and I think what some people who cry about Virtual Console forget is that other companies already want that money, hence the likes of Sega releasing their Genesis Collection, Hamster with its Arcade Archives, Konami's collections, that leaves very little outside of Nintendo and the PC Engine titles (which I'm sure are being rereleased separately), not counting titles in licensing hell.
yawn They need some more 3rd party games on there. The NES has a huge library of games, but all we are seeing at this point is medicore 1st party games most people could care less about..
Thank god there is at least other offerings on the eShop like the Konami collections, the Mega Man collections, the Neo Geo titles from Hamster, etc.
Wrecking Crew is one of the upcoming Arcade Archives titles exclusives to Switch, and now that it'll be available on NESflix too -although it's a different version, as usual-, I can see the comments when the arcade version is released: "it's already on the NES Online Service, why paying 8 bucks for this?"
Well, at least Donkey Kong 3 was released in arcade version already.
@Woomy_NNYes That's never going to happen.
@Bunkerneath It is not free. It is part of a PAID subscription service. Yeah, it is pretty cheap for a year, but it's still not free and Nintendo needs to deliver more for the subscribers. There's gonna be a massive drop off come September when the year long subscriptions come up for renewal if Nintendo doesn't address these complaints.
@WiltonRoots
I think there are three reasons why we don't have VC on the Switch.
1. Indies. Releasing a VC with a full library on the Switch would bury almost all indie titles. Because they can't compete with the older (S)NES / N64 titles with their following.
2. Licenses. Licenses to old games change hands regularly and a lot of companies are re-releasing older games. Nintendo wouldn't be able to make a full library.
3. Price. Releasing VC on the Switch would mean rebuying VC games from the 3DS, Wii or Wii U. Which not many players would want to do.
How about SNES remix instead of milking those old titles to death?
Realise I’m in a minority but I’ll play the hell out of Donkey Kong 3!
Nintendo: Wake up samurai. We have NES games to milk.
But seriously, Nintendo isn't giving me a single incentive to subscribe. C'mon Nintendo, you're far better than that.
@sanderev Great points...
Currently I enjoy and play SMB3 with a friend, as she disclosed she regretted to never finish the game on her own. The other thing that is holding me towards this service is the discount, but if you factor in that you only save 20,00 € when you buy those games brand new and online it just subsidizes the cost if a service I hardly use for the online functions.
If they add a SNES library, I probably wouldn't stick around, but currently the service will run out as is and I already deactivated the auto renewal.
To everyone think this is the bottom of the barrel you apparently never played a NES Kemco title outside of Shadowgate. There is still the potential for those to be released as I don’t see a Kemco collection coming.
For everything else, they are releasing overpriced collections or unable to release due to licensing issues.
Eek.
Even back in the Wii's VC days when we'd see new retro releases every single week, this would have been a pitiful week.
Rewind is nice. Button mapping would be welcome, too
guys - the online service is twenty bucks - if you play games online - then it is a no-brainer - if you don't play online - whatever - you don't need it.
but $20 bucks isn't anything to complain about
sure they could put some better games here - but it is what it is.
there are also games like tetris 99
IDK - not really much to complain about here
also - wrecking crew was great fun - and it should be fun to play again.
I'd like to know the average hours people have played their NES app. Nintendolife could do a poll where we insert our own numbers. Sadly I got hooked to Dr Mario so there's probably 30 hours of just that for me. And maybe 5 hours of Tetris 99.
@vitalemrecords thanks for being the voice of reason. I'd simply prefer the online be free and games with online component cost $5 more. So I would have spent $10 between splatoon and mm2. Instead I spent $30 (one year I got it cheaper in a bundle) to play two games
“Continues to strengthen its library “? Did Nintendo write this article ?
@sixrings
that is a great idea. I also play Dr Mario the most but even that has waned.
These two new games are more of the same, dull and uninspired content. The rewind feature is something I never use and it is on the Sega cart. If you save the game often enough it becomes pointless to rewind.
As far as the price, $20 dollars is less than the comparables but so is the offerings. And besides that twenty bucks is twenty bucks.
Wrecking crew is a fun game. I’ll spend some time with playing this again.
Wrecking crew is decent, but they need to get some of the AAA nes games.
Where is TMNT? Where is MegaMan? Where is BattleToads?
There are tons of great NES games that should be added.
Instead of wasting time making these games easier for children to play, get more properties.
@sanderev
1. If you can't compete with 30 year old games, you don't deserve to make money.
2. This is a problem with any scheme for older games. Just do their best is all we ask.
3. No one should have to rebuy anything. If you buy a game on VC you should own that game on VC no matter what console it is released for.
@jtmnm Ancient Technology?
Majora's Mask was recently released for 3DS, it's $20.
People still consider the monthly games 'free'? Even though they are impossible to play unless you pay a price. Just curious.
if we aren't getting SNES games, how about some of the many MANY awesome NES games instead of the absolute worst ones we've been getting? Honestly, I am convinced Nintendo is trolling us. My predictions for aug? Taboo, Where's Waldo, and M.U.S.C.L.E.
@StevenG
1. Try to make a game that would sell better than Super Mario Bros. Or The Legend of Zelda. Many series started on these consoles, and they are still loved by many. A new game wouldn't be able to compete unless they had enough funding to make something entirely new.
2. They are.
3. And that's the problem. With millions of 3DSes, Wiis and Wii Us sold, Nintendo wouldn't make any money from the VC. Shareholders don't like that. That's why they came with the Online-service. Shareholder don't like giving away stuff for free.
Okay, so I do take issue with the "scraping the bottom of the barrel" comment. These games are actually pretty good. Urban Champion is scraping the bottom of the barrel. However, it's clear that the NES well is beginning to run dry. Don't worry folks, we'll have SNES games by year end. They could put Double Dragon 3 and the rest of the Ninja Gaiden series plus Tecmo Super Bowl on there.
@sixrings the service hasn't even been available for a full year yet
I don't know why you would pay for it twice if you didn't like it.
I got a free year with my amazon prime membership.
so I paid 20 bucks and I have it until a year after this coming september - when it started.
and I got the game voucher that discounts the next two games I get - so that's a free 20 bucks
Essentially I haven't paid a dollar for two years of the service.
And I see that as a win.
Mysterious Murasame Castle seems like an odd choice to not feature this month when its a random sound effect in Mario Maker 2. Something along the lines of "Hey kids, wondering what that weird ninja/samurai in Mario Maker 2 was all about? Discover his origins this month on the NES app!"
I'll be honest: I am looking forward to Wrecking Crew. But I can't help wondering where Yoshi's Cookie and StarTropics 2 are. Maybe next month...
@Amrulez I highly doubt God cares that you got a $20 online subscription for free.
@StevenG TMNT? Konami/licensing hell.
Battletoads? Microsoft.
Megaman? Available with the Megaman collections. Again, other companies want a slice of that retro pie. I can’t see Capcom wanting Nintendo to give it away with their NES online.
@teamdave2002
Thanks for that info, do you talk to him regularly? Imagine wasting your time to reply to my post just to tell me how God thinks..
Great to see a rewind feature, and the chosen games, while not huge games, are still good for fast fun. I'm still hoping we see something like Dragon Warrior or Final Fantasy, we need at least one good turn based RPG for the online service.
@WiltonRoots I wouldn't say TMNT is in licensing hell, as we are seeing the Arcade versions re-released through Arcade1Up, and they are a lot smaller of a company than Nintendo.
@WiltonRoots Sounds like a lesson going forward for the contracts.
@leathco but it is one of those licenses that bounces around a lot...
@StevenG it happens a lot, it always gets more complicated when people buy out the rights for things.
@WiltonRoots I meant to allow publishing for the system require prices for future VC.
@Amrulez anytime! No more a waste of time commenting to you than you replying.
@LunarFlame17 I disagree both are excellent games to be added.
@teamdave2002 he may not but I got one free also
I find the rewind feature kinda lame. But then again I call it cheating also. Play the games like they were meant to be played. If you die start back at the revive point.
I know many people don't see it this way but it just takes all the challenge out of it really.
@Dirty0814 Good! I’m glad somebody will enjoy these games. I plan to check them out, but I doubt I’ll play either for more than five minutes.
@Woomy_NNYes Enjoy your long slumber.
@LunarFlame17 their fun and challenging also to a point. Their definitely worth playing and are classics which is why they were added
@teamdave2002
Well you seem to be a man of the cloth, I was obliged to reply
@MrNihilism
Yeah, I know it's wishful thinking
I'm a sleeping beauty that can only be awakened by Cube or Wii port

Super Spike V'Ball
Top Gun
Urban Champion
Wrath of the Black Manta
Etc...
Any, all, or more of these could come, so this drip train ain't stopping no time soon. SNES will come, just be patient.
Finally! One of my fav games of all time, Wrecking Crew!
Can't we get some cooler games like Faxanadu, Metal Storm or Guardian Legend?
Now every game is Prince of Persia!
How about Famicom Wars? That would be awesome to have on Switch since Nintendo doesn't seem likely to develop a new Advance Wars game, or bring virtual console titles like Advance Wars, AW 2, AW DS, or AW Days of Ruin to Switch. I just wish Nintendo would bring any Advance Wars game to their current system!
"After the initial shock of an 8 ton gorilla crashing through the roof of his greenhouse, Stanley said "I will call the police! They surely will be able to solve this dilemma!" He took his phone out of his pocket and began to dial...As I said, Stanley took his phone out of his pocket and began to dial... What are you doing, Stanley? Do you really think that bug spray will stop an 8 ton gorilla? ...it seems so. Very well then. Stanley attacked the 8 ton gorilla with a substance meant to eradicate pests only slightly larger than Stanley's self-esteem, but significantly more important to the grand scheme of the universe than Stanley was in any way throughout his entire life. Was the gorilla's flight truly because of the pesticide, or was it pity and revulsion at the sight of the horrifically ugly and awkward man who was currently wielding it in his general direction? Regardless, the result was that the gorilla fled higher into the greenhouse rafters." - An excerpt from Nintendo's latest indie collaboration, "The Stanley the Bugman Parable."
Another meh month, I have nintendo online free from twitch prime, and yet I've only played NES online maybe 20 -30 minutes because i'm just not that impressed with most NES games nowadays. Also doesn't help that some of the titles they are giving us feel like they are scrapping the bottom of the barrell.
@Woomy_NNYes gimme my snes games and 64 you tight gits.I will demand it.come on am the biggest nintendo fan ever 💖👍👍👍👍
suppose I got the snes mini which is pretty cool.
VIRTUAL BOY GAMES OR WE RIOT!
Jeebus. The article hadn't even been up for five minutes and there's over 100 comments XD
well that's super handy especially for SMB Lost Levels!
Virtual Console come back !!!
So glad we live in a time where my console is powerful enough to play NES games... if only it could be backward compatible with something interesting....
Okay Nintendo the joke has been long enough bring back virtual console...
@JR150 Except it's just an update of an old article so first comment start July 9th...
Just release all the NES games ffs, who cares about 2 games we already played before
Wrecking Crew rules tho
@Bunkerneath
Agreed, I think the moaning is getting nearly as old as the games. That they get for FREE...
Finally, the good ending of Mighty Bomb Jack. After 30 long years!
@alexybubble That doesn't rule out Bubble Bobble, or King's Knight!
All the toxicity is gonna force everyone to demand refunds on their subscriptions, and they would use that money to buy an XBox Live Games Pass, because they know how to treat gamers right. I have the NES Classic Edition and Hakchi, so I already added these two games to the thing, Mighty Bomb Jack, not really. If you complain to Nintendo, they never listen, like that old man who was clueless about the mob beating him up, but complain to SEGA, and they listen and deliver. How come I never get my tweets answered by Sonic and his team on the Sonic Twitter Takeovers, anyway?
I feel bad for anyone who hasn’t already downloaded Nintendo’s complete catalog of classic ROMs. Imagine actually waiting on Nintendo to release these games. Madness.
I just want button remapping. LOL.
I never knew a Donkey Kong 3 existed, I think I may play that one out of curiosity. Same with Wrecking Crew, though the name sounds familiar, like I read it on a fan site or something.
While I don't like paying for online play for games I already paid for, at least I like how NES Online lets me try classics I never played.
Rewind? Alright ninja gaiden time!!
I don't get the hate. These two games are good games for the NES library, if not the ones most talked about. I'm still hoping for some RPGs soon though, we have seen a LOT of quick play stuff (Excitebike, Donkey Kong, etc) but no Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy yet, the closest we have gotten is StarTropics.
man NOS is just awful
Need hard hitting SNES games. If I can get FF4-6, chrono trigger, link to the past, etc on my Switch then boo yah.
It's funny how a hacked switch can do 10x more then a regular switch right LOL
Nintendo should really consider adding SNES games to the library now, in my opinion.
@Haxxor Let's not discuss hacking and use language like that again, please.
@Haxxor I don't want to wait, no, but I will. One of our community rules is we don't discuss hacking.
@carmudgeon @biaros88
Rewind / Refund my NOS please! 🤔 🤣
Well I never got to play Wrecking Crew back in the day and only a tiny bit of DK3 in the arcade, and the rewind feature is a very welcome addition, so this month doesn’t seem so bad to me.
YES I’d love to have SNES games and yes the Switch’s online community features are worthless, but I remember paying $30-$40 for just one NES game in the eighties, so I can’t complain too loudly about my $20 annual subscription for NSO.
@Haxxor Sigh... Compared to the Wii U era, this is like a Nintendo golden age, my friend!
Nintendo fan? Yes. Nintendo fanboy? Not hardly. Wrong gender, way too old, and I’ve owned most of the consoles from Sega and Sony over the years, too.
Nintendo certainly could do a better job with NSO and other aspects of business, but overall I support the company. Different values, I guess. Let’s leave it at that.
Two good games. I'm happy to play both. Oh and whatever bomb jack is. Rewind is good unless there are leader boards.
The only problem I have with Nintendo Switch Online is that is cannot function as a stand-alone product.
They could have chosen to make this the retro games service on all active Nintendo products (Maybe even other platforms). But they didn't.
No they chose to use it as a added value for the pay to play online service.
So what happens with the service when Nintendo moves on?
It will die like the old stores on Wii and Wii U.
So by the time the added a good SNES and newer games. The service will probably die.
@Slitth,
Apart from the fact that it can as it has around 10 million subscriptions already,now of course a service like this will not appeal to the internet forum posting minorities/YouTube crowd,who for some reason always post as if they are the majority,and I doubt Nintendo will base it's improvements on it's service to cater for such a small number of people,that's not to say Nintendo will not add more systems to it's online service,but they will do it when they are good and ready,from my point of view the service is amazing value.
what a disgrace this ONLINE SERVICE is...
@Teksetter,
I also remember paying around $5.00 for a NES title on the Wii and Wii U virtual console service,now you get an online service with cloud saves,and the Nes games are thrown in as a free extra,you get around 60 titles for $1.58 per month for the whole service,no wonder over 10 million people have subscribed already.
The age of entitlement strikes again.
@BlackenedHalo,
I see where you are coming from fella,and like I have said many times before if you don't like it don't subscribe..simple.
@JR150,
These articles comment sections are always fun,and you can always rely on the online service haters to be out in force.
do you know what is more tragic than this situation? that every average Joe from this comment section would know how to improve this service and Nintendo does not
@johnvboy it is not about buying/not buying, but about how much better the online service could have been if Nintendo wasnt such stupid
@sanderev,
You will also find the game sales on the virtual console service would have been declining too.
@BlackenedHalo,
Nintendo are not stupid far from it,and the subscriptions to the service thus far do not support your argument,and let's be honest here,most people complaining are still upset that Nintendo are charging anything for playing online as it used to be free,and nothing short of an online service with every game from every retro Nintendo system will ever be enough.
I want to see some of the licensed titles, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Simpsons, Dragon Warrior, Battletoads, hell, I'd even be happy with McDonaldland
@AndyRogan,
I would also like to see Sunsoft's Batman,and after Blaster Master turned up I suppose it may happen,although the licence may be tough,same with the old Turtles game.
Not really interested in rewind. Well pleased to have Donkey Kong 3 though.
@johnvboy "and nothing short of an online service with every game from every retro Nintendo system will ever be enough.
That won't be enough. It would have to be free again as well.
@PeterAndCompany Says you. I like "Donkey Kong 3" better than the first two and "Wrecking Crew" is also a fun, underrated game.
I still need to see "Mach Rider" on there though.
@WiltonRoots,
Not free...Nintendo would have to give them money.
@johnvboy and a pro controller, and Xbox Live thrown in for good measure, maybe then they'll considering thinking about it. Maybe. Oh and while they're at it throw in a food delivery service. And a new TV, and a 2TB SD card.
@WiltonRoots,
A food delivery service sounds good,but I would expect them to feed me so I don't have to put my controller down.
@WiltonRoots I want a pair of joycon, I have a Ps4, I want a chef to come to cook the food, this TV is only 4K, 2TB is nothing, this is 2019...6TB. I am waiting Nintendo. Or no 20 bucks for you!
